Bavarian knitting, originating from the Bavarian Alps region of Europe comprises of traveling cables against twisted stitches. The twisted stitches create clean and well-defined stitches while the traveling cables have a nice design element and are usually 2 stitch cables that don't use cable needles at all. The pattern appearance and charts seem complicated, yet once you understand the chart symbols, it becomes easy to follow and addicting! It’s a classic design and looks great on men, women and children. In learning the challenges and understanding the construction and components of each type of yarn Karen hopes to give her students another view of why yarn is so interesting to make. Her classes are structured so that you understand what the fiber and yarn construction require, how the fiber needs to be handled and best ways to achieve that. She also strives to impart to students the fun of being able to spin something different. Karen's experience includes being a Certified Fiber Judge - judging at numerous fairs, raising sheep, teaching weaving and spinning classes, being active in several guilds, and has received numerous awards for weaving and spinning.
