Weaving without a loom - Make a Beret (Tam)
Beth Witters is the co‑owner of Cabled Fiber & Yarn in downtown Port Angeles. A self‑described “fiberholic,” she delights in all the fiber arts—knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, felting, tatting, and sewing (though she cheerfully notes that quilting is its own distinct art form).
Beth has been teaching spinning and weaving for more than 30 years, sharing her deep knowledge and enthusiasm in yarn shops throughout the region. Her journey with fiber began in childhood, inspired by the embroidered “story” dishtowels she encountered at home--Monday: Wash Day, Saturday: Bake Day. Captivated, she quietly borrowed a needle and thread from the sewing chest and stitched a fabric cover for her three‑ring school binder. Always eager to learn she credits many mentors, from neighbor women who were willing to share their skills to a 4‑H group to memberships in weaving, spinning and knitting guilds. That early curiosity turned into a lifelong passion—one that continues to shape her creative work, teaching, and community involvement today. She is excited to share with participants in the PNW Fiber Arts Expo. |
